INEZ — The Sheldon Clark High School Class of 1976 entered the brand-new high school as freshmen in 1972 and 166 graduated May 28 that bicentennial year.

The merging of two high schools—Inez and Warfield—required adjustments, but soon new friendships were formed and four years of being together turned into a lifelong connection.

On Saturday, music of the ‘70s filled the Martin County Senior Citizens Center as the classmates celebrated 48 years post-graduation and their new eligibility for Medicare.

The reunion was lively with birthday cupcakes, party games and abundant laughter as everyone recounted cherished memories. A highlight of the evening was when each person summarized their life’s journey since leaving high school.

Class Valedictorian Debbie Tackett Haertzen said it best: “Everyone made an impactful contribution to society, and I’m honored and proud to be a part of this class!”

As the evening concluded, classmates discussed plans to meet up again in two years to celebrate their 50th year.
