INEZ — The Inez Dance Academy welcomed a crowd to its 2024 Spring Recital this past Saturday at the Collier Center.
The event highlighted the year in dance for students, showcasing their skills and progress in front of their families and the community.
The Inez Dance Academy founder and dance teacher, Abbie Crowe Fitch of Inez, expressed her excitement to see her students shine after months of diligent preparation.
Fitch opened the academy in 2022 and has seen it thrive the past year under her guidance. She is optimistic about its growth and popularity.
“I have a few more kids than I did last year,” Fitch said. “Even last year surprised and encouraged me with the number of people who came to the recital.”
Growth was evident during the Christmas Recital as well.
“I hope that it will continue to grow,” added Fitch, who currently teaches ballet and jazz classes. “I’m really looking forward to getting more students and more interest and being able to teach more classes. I’d love to do tap, acro and other things like that.”
The community has shown strong support for the academy, recognizing the valuable opportunities it provides for the youth in Martin County.
Tebra Carver, whose household was buzzing with excitement as her daughter prepared for the event Saturday, noted that dance is a significant part of her daughter’s life. Carver was impressed by the performances.
“We all love watching the different ages, seeing the different talents and seeing them grow,” said Carver. “I feel like the program is going to continue to grow and flourish. We love Miss Abby. She always encourages the girls and really teaches them to work hard.”
Audience members were delighted by choreographed numbers set to songs such as “Reflection,” “Baby Take a Bow,” “What a Wonderful World,” “Try Everything,” “Rockin’ Robin,” and “We Dance.”
