LOUISA — Martin County Middle School girls’ soccer won 5-1 over Lawrence County on the road April 19 to remain unbeaten in conference play.

With the regular season close to the end, each conference game is essential for seeding for the conference tournament.

The cold weather Tuesday did not bother the Lady Cards as they attacked the goal from the opening kickoff.

Lawrence County’s defense held off the Lady Cards until Annaleigh Davis put Martin County up 1-0 at the 10-minute mark. The celebration did not last long as the Bulldogs scored a goal to tie the game 1-1.

Faith Caldwell scored late in the first half to give Martin County a 2-1 lead at the half.

The Lady Cards kept the pressure up with Caldwell scoring a quick goal at the start of the second half. Jazlynn Jude followed with a goal to extend the lead 4-1.

Kailynn Maynard scored from the top of the box to end the game with the victory for the Lady Cards.

Martin County’s record is now 5-0-1 on the season.

This week the Lady Cards will be on the road for two more conference games. They travel Thursday to Johnson Central and Tuesday to Adams Middle School.
