Lady Cards goes 2-1 on week

Martin County Lady Cardinals went 2-1 on the week, losing a heartbreaker to Magoffin County on the road and winning over Fairview and Morgan County in games at Cardinal Park.

Martin County’s game against the Magoffin County Lady Hornets ended in heartbreak as the Lady Cards lost a late lead before falling 16-6 in six innings on the road April 20.

The game was tied 5-5 in the bottom of the fourth inning when Magoffin County’s Jaden Williams homered, scoring two runs and taking the lead for the remainder of the contest.

Despite the loss, Martin County collected 11 hits in the high-scoring affair.

Freshman third baseman Zoie Hinkle went 3-4 at the plate to lead the Cardinals with multiple hits on the day. Addison Duncan and Bailey Dials also had multiple hits for the Cards.

In her first game back from injury, freshman pitcher Kayleigh Osendott got the start.
