CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

PAINTSVILLE — Police arrested a man from Tomahawk on a felony drug charge, alleging he possessed methamphetamine.

Fred Thomas Daniels, 31, was taken into custody at 7:21 p.m. Saturday on Old U.S. 23 in Paintsville by Trooper Trevor Spurlock of the Kentucky State Police Post 9.

Daniels faces charges of first-degree possession of a controlled substance — identified as methamphetamine — along with possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic-related offenses.

The arrest occurred after officers noted Daniels appeared “nervous and shaking” during the traffic stop, prompting them to request his exit from the vehicle for a more thorough inspection, the police report detailed.

Daniels claimed there were no illicit materials in his car and consented to a search. Officers discovered a clear bag containing a crystal-like substance and a pipe with a similar residue in the back seat area of his vehicle.
