Lady Panthers claw Bulldogs and Hillbillies

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — The Tug Valley Panthers advanced in the Class A sectionals Thursday with a 23-2 win over the Van Bulldogs at their home field in Naugatuck.

Tug Valley belted out 19 hits in the game.

Coach Rocky Hall’s squad led 7-2 after the first inning and scored eight more runs in the bottom of the second to take control of the game.

Tailyn Russell led the offense with four hits, including a double and triple, while Jessica Spaulding smacked three hits in the mercy rule victory. Both had four RBIs in the contest.

Winning pitcher Bailee Hall had two hits, including a double, and five RBIs to help her own cause. Hailey Newsome, Haileigh Muncy and Megan Griffey all had two hits in the offensive assault.

L. Albright was the losing pitcher for Van. S. Cabell had the only two hits for the visiting team.

Tug Valley 14, Man 13

NAUGATUCK, W.Va. — The Man Lady Hillbillies led 11-4 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but a big 9-run rally put the Lady Panthers in front and lifted them to a 14-13 victory in a sectional tournament game Friday.

Bailee Hall went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and three runs scored to lead TV on offense. She got the pitching win in relief of Amelya Wellman.

Wellman had two hits and two RBIs for the Lady Panthers, while Tailyn Russell, Jessica Spaulding, Aleksah Osborne and Haileigh Muncy also had hits.

Peyton Lusk took the loss in the circle for Man. She also had three hits, including a double. Jackie Barnett belted a home run for Man.

Tug was scheduled to play Saturday, but rain postponed that game.
