Larry Ray Young, 77, passed away peacefully Friday, May 3, 2024, at Laurels of Norworth.

Born July 7, 1946, he was the son of the late Oscar and Lucia (James) Young.

Larry leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Survivors include his beloved daughter, Shelly (Stephen) Metz; adored granddaughters, Karalei and Zoe; devoted brothers, Darriel (Lily) Young, Don (Phyllis) Young, Bruce (Norma) Young and Kent (Janet) Young; and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carolyn Young.

A dedicated member of Moose Lodge 11 and Moose Lodge 1427, Larry was honored as a Fellow of the Moose Lodge. He found joy in the camaraderie and community spirit these organizations fostered.

Larry’s passion for motorcycles and trains was palpable, reflecting his adventurous spirit and love for the open road. As a conductor for Norfolk and Southern for four decades, he epitomized dedication and professionalism in his work. Yet, beyond his professional accomplishments, Larry’s true happiness stemmed from his family. He cherished moments spent with loved ones, whether it was sharing laughs over old western movies and shows, cooking together, or indulging in action-packed films.

Larry Young will be fondly remembered for his warmth, generosity and quick wit. His laughter and presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Young Cemetery on Coldwater. Friends may visit the funeral home Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Schoedinger Funeral Home of Grove City, Ohio, and Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
