Elliott Contracting

Elliott Contracting, a multi-trades commercial contractor with divisions in electrical, mechanical and general contracting, teamed up with BSCTC to offer hands-on experience to students. Seven individuals participated in this initiative, with three completing a short-term general plumbing training program and four enrolled in BSCTC’s electrical technology program.

These students acquired skills, knowledge, and practical experience working alongside Elliott’s professionals outside the classroom.

Morgen Valentine, senior project manager for Elliott, praised the cooperative, stating, “The partnership with BSCTC has been incredibly successful, allowing us to cultivate a workforce that is not only well-trained but also ready to hit the ground running.”

Joe Compton, professor of electrical technology at BSCTC, noted the electrical program’s unique benefits.

“The value in the electrical technology program at BSCTC is that students not only receive a two-year degree and multiple certificates but also gain two years of experience toward their journeyman’s license,” Compton explained.

Pikeville Medical Center

BSCTC hosted a similar event with Pikeville Medical Center.

Utilizing TRAINS funding, PMC provided specialized training for operating room technicians. Upon the completion of the program, all participating students received job offers from PMC.

Dr. Denise King, Provost of BSCTC, shared her enthusiasm.

“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our students and partner, PMC,” King said. “This collaboration shows our dedication to equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to thrive in today’s workforce.”
