CLEAR FORK, W.Va. — The Tug Valley Panthers out-slugged the Westside Warriors 20-9 Friday, picking up a road win.
Zack Hall clubbed a pair of doubles and had five RBIs for the Panthers.
Tug Valley took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first frame on a Conner Lackey single. Westside tied the game in the bottom of the first.
The Panthers scored six more runs in the top of the second inning, with the Warriors bringing home four to make it 7-5.
Elijah Fluty singled to bring home a run and, paired with a couple of walks and a sacrifice fly by Dakota Ooten, the Panthers scored four more runs in the third.
The home team added three runs in the bottom of the third and one in the fourth.
Tug added six runs in the top of the fifth, thanks to Hall’s double and singles by Fluty and Ooten.
The Panthers scored three more runs in the top of the sixth to take a 20-9 lead.
Gage Whitt got the win on the mound in relief for Austin Smith. Kaiden Vance took the loss for the Warriors.
Tug Valley banged out 14 hits in the contest. Fluty went 3-for-4 to lead the way. Julian Vance, Lackey and Chandler Copley each had multiple hits. TVHS drew 12 walks in the game with Ashton Smith getting three free trips to first base.
Jaiden Lester, Vance and Hayden Miller led the offense for Westside.
Tug Valley winds down the regular season this week before heading into sectional tournament action next week.
