WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Law enforcement officers were busy this past week in Williamson investigating a pair of shootings that left destruction in their path.
The late-night shootings naturally left residents in fear and worry. Residents were on edge until an arrest was made. They expressed relief on social media after police took the suspected into custody Thursday night.
Suspected shooter James Victor Hash was arrested Thursday by Sgt. Mines, Cpl. Larry Thomas and Deputy Blake Sipple of the Mingo County Sheriff’s Department on the following charges:
- Attempted murder
- Two counts of destruction of property
- Two counts of prohibited person with a firearm
- Two counts of brandishing a firearm
- One count of wanton endangerment
Hash is 20 years old and his current address is Williamson. However, he is originally from Pineville in Wyoming County, according to the MCSD. He had also spent time in the Southwestern Regional Jail.
The first shooting occurred April 16 on West Fourth Avenue when an individual shot several rounds at a car parked beside the road. The second happened the night of April 17 as a person shot up the glass doors of the back entrance of the Goodman Manor apartments. It is also on Fourth Avenue near downtown Williamson.
No injuries were reported.
The Williamson Police Department and West Virginia State Police assisted in the investigation.
