INEZ — Tobacco Plus LLC is officially the first liquor store in Inez to open since the country went dry at midnight Jan. 17, 1920.

Owners Jason and Ashley Hammond obtained their liquor and malt beverage licenses April 5 and have begun selling at their location at 750 East Main Street.

The store is currently expanding its stock, with Jason anticipating three shipments this week.

Tobacco Plus secured one of two available liquor licenses in the City of Inez following the November 2023 vote to permit alcohol sales.

“I needed something to pull customers in,” Jason explained. “This is something no one else has, and hopefully, it will just keep growing and getting better.”

The store’s hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
