KERMIT, W.Va. — The Kermit Volunteer Fire Department battled a structure fire Thursday on the back street.
Kermit brought three engines and 10 volunteer firefighters to the two-story home of Debbie Dodd on Mingo Street.
“After gaining entry we quickly extinguished the fire on the second floor and kept most of the damage to an upstairs bedroom and stairway,” Billy Davis, an officer with the KVFD, said.
“As an officer I couldn’t be prouder of our firefighters and the stop they made today. It could have been a lot worse, but we have the best firemen.”
Kermit received mutual aid from the Warfield and Inez departments out of Martin County, Kentucky.
“Thanks to the Warfield and Inez fire departments for always having our backs,” Davis added.
