Franklin Preece
1940—2024

Franklin Preece, age 83, of Inez, passed away March 15, 2024, at his residence.

Born April 9, 1940, in Martin County, he was the son of the late William Howard Preece and Rosie Delong Preece.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his spouse, Mavis Preece; four brothers, Lonnie Preece, Harold Preece, Glenn Ray Preece and Howard Preece Jr.; and two sisters, Fern Carty and Sharon Winchester.

Survivors include two sons, Franklin (Betty) Preece Jr. of Inez and Jerry (Rose) Preece of Louisa; one sister, Helen Perry of Inez; one brother, Donnie (Wanda) Preece of Inez; and three sisters, Corrine (Jack) Ellis of Columbus, Ohio, Faye (Willie) Marcum of Ohio, and Verna McKenzie of Florida. He also leaves behind four grandchildren, Benjamin, Helen Joann, Dixie and Ashley, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home in Inez. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Garden in Louisa. Friends may visit the funeral home Sunday and Monday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
