INEZ — An alleged burglar was jailed after targeting an Inez home.

Leslie Maynard, 43, of Inez, was arrested Tuesday on burglary, public intoxication of a controlled substance, criminal trespassing and menacing charges.

According to Martin County Sheriff’s Deputy Lauren O’Bryan, Maynard’s arrest stems from an incident April 9 at Jaryd Crum’s residence in Inez.

Crum says that he heard extremely loud music outside his home a few minutes after midnight April 9.

“I looked out the window and saw an SUV parked sideways in my driveway with the driver’s door open, but no one to be found,” Crum said. “I immediately armed myself and proceeded through the house. After making my way to the living room, I saw a man in a blue hoodie on the porch moving from window to window looking into the home. When the man turned his back, I moved to the door with my gun drawn, opened the door, and yelled for him to identify himself. He turned around and put his arms up, and I immediately recognized the individual to be Les Maynard.”
