WARFIELD — As the Easter season approaches, the City of Warfield is preparing for its annual Easter egg hunt scheduled for March 30. Mayor Mike Hinkle is leading the charge, reaching out to businesses and community members for donations to ensure the event is a success.
The Easter egg hunt has become a beloved tradition in Warfield, attracting children from Martin County and neighboring Mingo and Wayne counties in West Virginia. Mayor Hinkle noted that at least 150-200 children come out for the event each year.
Instead of typical candy rewards, Warfield goes above and beyond by distributing over 1,000 prizes in toys and games annually.
Mayor Hinkle emphasized the importance of community and business support in maintaining this tradition.
“We appeal to businesses and individuals for support so we can continue to distribute toys and games instead of just candy,” Hinkle said. “Any donations are accepted. We thank you for your support.”
