INEZ — Martin County High School will host the 57th District girls and boys basketball tournaments Feb. 26-29.
The girls tournament kicks off Feb. 26 with No. 1-seed Johnson Central playing No. 4-seed Magoffin County at 6:30 p.m. No. 2-seed Martin County will play No. 3-seed Paintsville at 8:30. The girls championship game will be played Feb. 28.
The boys tournament gets underway Feb. 27. No. 1-seed Martin County will play No. 4-seed Paintsville at 6:30 p.m. No. 2-seed Magoffin County will face No. 3-seed Johnson Central at 8:30 p.m.
The boys championship game is set for Feb. 29.
Martin County enters the boys tournament with a 6-0 conference record and an 18-9 season record. Through 27 games, the Cardinals are averaging 73.3 points and 30.7 rebounds per game. They are averaging 46.6% from the field and 70.8% at the free-throw line.
On the girls side, Martin County boasts a 5-1 record in conference play and enters the tournament as the No. 2 seed following a coin flip with Johnson Central, also with a 5-1 conference record.

Admission to the games is $7. Children under 3 get in free.
School officials are putting security measures in place. The Martin County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police will provide security.
Martin County High School will have an athletic trainer on-site throughout the tournament for the athletes’ safety.
Seating will be designated for each participating band and pep section.
Martin County Rescue Squad will oversee parking and assist with handicapped parking. General parking will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis at Parking Lot C (Purple), while Parking Lot B (Green) will cater to handicapped parking needs.
Livestreaming will not be permitted. This restriction applies to group, business and personal livestreaming on social media platforms.
Signage, balloons and noisemakers are prohibited.
