WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — Several heated races will be featured in the May 14 Primary Election in Mingo County.

Mingo County will elect a sheriff, county commissioner, assessor and three magistrates. The House of Delegates seats for the state Legislature are also voted on this year.

Two non-partisan Board of Education seats are up for grabs this May.

This election is also a governor’s race in the Mountain State. The state will also elect a U.S. Senator and U.S. Congressman.

It is a presidential race on the national level, which usually brings more attention to the elections in May and November.

There are three divisions for the non-partisan Circuit Court Judge seats in Mingo and Logan counties. Division 1 candidates have to reside in Mingo County. Whoever gets the most votes for Division 1 wins that seat. Division 2 and 3 candidates have to reside in Logan County. Division 2 is unopposed.
