Martin County — Laken Williams of the Martin County Lady Cardinals basketball team is the Mountain Citizen Player of the Week.
Williams has been integral to the Lady Cards’ success for the past four years, leading them to a 95-38 record during her campaign.
The senior is closing in on 2,000 career points and has secured multiple offers to continue her basketball journey at the collegiate level.

With the score deadlocked at 63-63 and 8.4 seconds remaining on the clock, Williams unleashed a shot from beyond the arc, electrifying the Martin County crowd and securing one of the most significant 57th District wins in history.
Earlier in the week—Jan. 23—she recorded 18 points, five rebounds, four steals and three assists vs. Lawrence County.
