Verla Mae (Maynard) Marcum
1942—2024

Our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Verla Mae Maynard Marcum, passed from her earthly home to her forever home Jan. 12, 2024.

Born Dec. 21, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Owen Maynard and Alta Mae Aldridge Maynard.

On Aug. 7, 1960, she was united in marriage to Paul Marcum, who passed away Oct. 18, 2020. To this union was born a son, Paul Douglas (Tyla) Marcum of Pleasantville, Ohio, and a daughter, Denise Rush of Philo, Ohio. Verla Mae is the grandmother of Jeffrey Marcum of Jackson, Mississippi, Sarah Marcum of Newark, Ohio, Kadie Rush of Philo, Ohio, and Mikaela Courtney of Pleasantville, Ohio. She was the great-grandmother of Kaleb and Kaydence Marcum of Wheeling, West Virginia, and Adrianna and Oliver Marcum of Jackson, Mississippi.

In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by brothers Tom, Owen Jr. and Clyde Maynard, sisters Wilma Damron, Ellen Damron, Florence Haney, Mary Perry, Mary Baisden, and four siblings who passed shortly after birth.

She lived a full life and enjoyed bowling, golf, racing and traveling with her family and friends while making memories with them. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 18, 2024 at the Mullins Family Funeral Home with Elias (JuneBug) Damron officiating. She was laid to rest beside her husband, Paul, in the family cemetery on Riverbend Road, Crum, West Virginia. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
