GOSHEN — Martin County High School wrestlers made a statement in central Kentucky Saturday. The Cardinals battled in the 2024 “The Stables” Wrestling Duals at North Oldham County High School, facing several talented programs and losing only one.

The championship battle ended in a 40-40 tie between Martin County and the South Oldham Dragons. The deciding factor was rule 7: The win went to the team with the least forfeits on the day.

Being one of the smallest teams in the competition, Martin County took the runner-up spot for that reason alone.

Before reaching the championship match, Martin County coach Josh Muncy’s crew defeated North Oldham 39-36, won over Bullett East 54-22, handed West Jessamine a 60-18 loss, dominated Bethlehem 50-18 and beat Jeffersontown 51-30.
