Eddie Joe Hammond

1953—2023

Eddie Joe Hammond, age 70, of Inez, passed away Nov. 14, 2023, at his residence.

Born Oct. 4, 1953 in Martin County, he was the son of the late Ransom and Ivy Hammond.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one son, Jason Hammond, one brother, Elmer Dalton, and two sisters, Vicie Mills Oliver and Marie Mills.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Preece Hammond of Inez; one son, Dustin (Roshunda) Hammond of San Marcos, Texas; and one daughter, Crystal (Wesley) Wright of Louisa. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kiley Jo Wright, Jaylan Aaryn Wright, Jaycee Hammond and Xavier Hammond and his very special friend, Buddy Pemberton.

Eddie was a member of the Zion United Baptist Church of Pack Bottom.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Dec. 17, 2023, at the Zion United Baptist Church of Pack Bottom, with Lonnie Ratliff and Elijah Collins officiating. Burial was at the Dalton Family Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the funeral home to assist with funeral costs. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
