INEZ — Martin County Lady Cards junior varsity dominated Paintsville 48-21, while the Lady Cards freshmen squad lost 32-30 in a nailbiter Dec. 5 at Martin County.

JV game
Sophomore Chloe May dialed up five 3-pointers to finish with 19 points in Martin County’s 48-21 win over the Paintsville Lady Tigers junior varsity.
A strong first quarter put the Lady Cards ahead 10-7.
May caught fire in the second quarter, hitting three long-range 3-pointers to stretch the lead to 23-12 by halftime.
May continued her hot hand in the third quarter, adding another 3-pointer, while Candace Spaulding contributed five points. The Lady Cards had a commanding 35-16 lead at the end of the third quarter and pulled away in the final frame to defeat Paintsville 48-21.
May led all scorers with 19 points, Spaulding chipped in 11, Maci Maynard finished with eight, Annaleigh Davis added six, and Brooke Marcum and Anna Hinkle flipped in two each.
Freshmen game
The Paintsville Tigers jumped out to an early 14-2 lead over the Lady Cards freshmen squad in the first quarter. Martin County mounted a comeback in the second quarter, narrowing the deficit to 16-10 by halftime thanks to the dynamic duo of eighth-grader Maci Maynard and seventh-grader Annaleigh Davis.
The third quarter saw a turnaround. Maynard dominated in the paint with seven points and Davis contributed six points through run-out layups. The Lady Cards closed the quarter leading 23-18.
The fourth quarter was a nail-biting exchange of leads. Paintsville knocked down a 3-pointer to claim the win.
Maynard led all scorers with 16 points and Davis followed with 14.
