KERMIT — The Kermit Council finished a short agenda Monday, accepting the resignation of Police Chief Ernest Booie Williams and hiring former state trooper Roger Johnson to fill the position.

Johnson will assume the position Dec. 18.

In other business the council approved a proposal from Thrasher Group to investigate an issue with a sewer clog for $2,400.

Councilwoman Anna Mae Sartin Wellman mentioned the issue of homeless people “all over town.”

Mayor Charles Sparks reassured her that he knows where those people are coming from as the city has several cameras.

“They’re all over the place,” Sparks said.

The council reviewed and approved the financials and adjourned the meeting.
