Floyd Messer
1949—2023

Floyd Messer, 74, of Kermit, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 10, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family and loved ones.

Born Jan. 25, 1949, in Kermit, he was the son of the late Felen and Fannie Muncy Messer.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, Freddy and Richard Messer, and brothers-in-law, Jim Martin, Phillip Belton, John Belton and Michael Belton.

Floyd was a retired coal miner for Rocksprings, a Mason with the Kermit Lodge, a United States Vietnam veteran, and a Christian for over 40 years.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carol Belton Messer; daughter, Maggie Messer of Kermit; sister-in-law, Ruthie (Jim) Martin; special nephew and niece, Freddy Messer Jr. and Kim (Terry) Maynard; cousins Patty Newsome, Marsha Newsome, Violet Dillon, Ralph Muncy, Carter Muncy, Basil Jr. Muncy and Linda Martin; and a host of family and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Dec. 14, at noon at the Old Jennies Creek Church with Ralph Muncy officiating. Burial will follow at the Carter-Messer Cemetery on Jennies Creek. Friends may visit the church after 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. There will be a special service at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Mullins Family Funeral Home of Warfield is honored to serve the family.
