TOMAHAWK — Old time music is set to resonate even louder throughout northeastern Kentucky with the formation of the Stidham Old Time Music Association Inc. This new organization, dedicated to the promotion of music and arts in the region, is hosting its inaugural board meeting followed by a jam session complete with old time and yuletide tunes. The meeting and jam will be held this Sunday, Dec. 10.
The meeting, slated to begin at 3 p.m., will take place at the heart of the Association’s activities—James E. Webb Musical Repair and Sales, the Tomahawk music shop that has been bringing live music and education to South Milo Road.
Not just a venue or hobby shop, this iconic location embodies the rich musical heritage that the Association aims to preserve and promote.
Following the meeting, at 4 p.m., the atmosphere will shift to a celebration of music with an old time jam session. Musicians and enthusiasts are invited to join in or simply enjoy the melodies that have long been part of Kentucky’s cultural tapestry.
Leading the Association are notable figures in the local music scene: James L. Webb, Karly Dawn Milner, Nadia Ramlagan, John Haywood, Phill Barnett, and Katherine Mueller-White. This diverse group of directors brings a wealth of experience and passion for music and community engagement.
The Stidham Old Time Music Association Inc. has set its sights on fostering musical and artistic talent in northeastern Kentucky. The board of directors is actively working on securing grants to launch educational workshops focusing on music and instrument-making. These initiatives are aimed at nurturing the skills of aspiring musicians and craftspeople, ensuring the continuation of the region’s musical and artistic legacy.
