Ransom Lee Ball
1947—2023
Ransom Lee Ball, 76, of Crum, West Virginia, passed away Friday, Dec. 1, 2023, at Pikeville Medical Center in Pikeville, Kentucky.
Born Nov. 13, 1947, in Mingo County, he was the son of the late Charley James Ball and Goldie Brewer Ball.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Juanell Collins Ball.
Ransom is survived by his children, Billy (Mary) Ball of Martin, Randy Lee (Mary) Ball and Linda Lee Ball, both of Plain City, Ohio, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings, Ed Ball, Russell Ball, Thurman Ball, Bill Ball, Clinton Ball, Frank Ball, Kathy Blackburn and Trisha Rectenwald.
Ransom was a heavy equipment operator at Marrowbone Development for nearly 20 years. He enjoyed music, horseshoes and Florida beaches.
Ransom would want us all to remember he was “the best looking, smartest and the best pool shot around!” He was protective of his family and never hesitated to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Dec. 4, 2023, at the Warfield Chapel of the Callaham Funeral Home in Warfield, Kentucky, with Otis Linville officiating. Burial was at the Ball Cemetery in Kermit. Arrangements are under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez, Kentucky.
