Elmer Kirk
1954—2023
Elmer Kirk, 69, of Pilgrim, passed away Nov. 29, 2023, at his residence.
Born March 3, 1954, in Hode, he was the son of the late John Kirk Jr. and Velma Bowen Kirk.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers, Clifton (Emma Joe) Bowen and Melvin Bowen.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Chafin Kirk; two daughters, Jennie (Jerry) Quillen of Georgetown and Zabrina (Shane) Hensley of River; one son, Christopher S. (Karen) Evans of Logan, West Virginia; three brothers, Chester Kirk, Billy Ray (LaDonna) Kirk and Jeffrey (Kathy) Kirk; sisters-in-law, Sue Bowen, Stella (Gabe) Messer, Sarah (Dave) Bowman, Retta (Jimmy) Parsley, Donna May and Regina (Darrell) Rose; three sisters, Beulah Bowen, Wilma (Gary) Staton and Linda Kay Marcum; and his beloved pet, Mia. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Halie (Tyler) Cox, Ian Hensley and Caden Hensley, and three great-grandchildren, Hope Cox, Lamayah Cox and Xavier Cox.
Elmer was a loving father and grandfather. His relationship with God was very important to him. He loved all of his church family and will be greatly missed by all.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at the Inez Church of Christ, with Elmer’s nephew, Dale Parsley, officiating. Burial was at Mountain Valley Memorial Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Kentucky State Police Post 9 “Shop with a Trooper” to help provide gifts to children during the holidays. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
