Glen Ray Marcum

1940—2022

Glen Ray Marcum, 81, of Dingess, W.Va., passed away quietly in his sleep April 4, 2022, at the home of his daughter April and James Justice, his caregivers in his last days.

Born Dec. 2, 1940, to the union of Wade and Jannie Marcum, Glen was the oldest child of their family.

Glen along with his late wife Mary Frances, owned a couple of businesses while here on this earth. They were the owners of G and M Construction and Tri County Mining. Glen also served as the county constable for several years as well as a committee man. Glen was a dozer operator at Taywood Mining . He was well liked by many. No matter where you went with him, someone there knew him.

In addition to his parents and wife of 57 years, Glen is preceded in death by his only son, Glen Darrell Marcum, brother Willis Marcum and nephew Timmy.

Left saddened are his daughters Marcella Evans of Florida, Charlene Marcum Perdue of Logan, W.Va., and April (James) Justice of Dingess, W.Va. He had nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by siblings Wade Jr. (Madge) Marcum, Nettie (James) Parsley, Joann (Jack) Derosette and Paul (Della) Marcum, all of Dingess and Ernest (Rosa) Marcum and Bessie (Ken) Muncy of Florida.

A private funeral service was held Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Samaria Church in Dingess, W.Va., with Reverend Jerry Graham officiating. Burial was at the Wade and Jannie Marcum Cemetery, under the direction of the Callaham Funeral Home, Inez.
