WARFIELD — Martin County Middle School opened its season Nov. 6 with a 62-41 victory over Johns Creek.
The Cardinals held a 13-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. They stretched the lead to 37-22 by halftime and maintained control throughout the game.
Aiden Copeland led the charge with 28 points, going deep for six 3-pointers. Supporting the effort, Jaxon Pack netted 12 points and Chase Hinkle finished with 10. Brayden Marcum scored seven points, Jayden Yates contributed three and Noah McCoy added two.
In B-team action, Martin County fell 43-38 in a hard-fought battle. Noah McCoy led the Cardinals with 11 points, Bentley Bowman scored eight, Tyler Goble finished with six, Braxton Pack and Jayden Yates each netted four, Zach Maynard chipped in three and Bradley Hatfield scored two.
