Charles Edward ‘Eddie’ Johnson

1940—2023

Charles Edward “Eddie” Johnson, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away Nov. 3, 2023, surrounded by his daughters.

Born July 25, 1940, in Martin County, he was the son of the late Watson Harrison and Hazel Marie Muncey Johnson.

Eddie loved tinkering with computers and learning different ways of fixing them. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Eddie is preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jean Baisden Johnson, brother, Watson “Junebug” Johnson Jr., and sons, Steven Louis Morris and James Edward Messer.

He is survived by five daughters, Lisa (Fred) Moxley, Denise (Jeff) Hurst, Everiae (Mike) Sanson and Linda Messer Mercer, all of Ohio, and Maria Rigsby of North Carolina. He is also survived by his sister, Delma Ruth Herald of Ashland, his special nephew, David, a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2023, at 1 p.m. at the Little Yellow Church on Jennies Creek, with Pastor Joe Maynard officiating. Burial will follow at the Jacob Messer Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
