INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s Office reported the following arrests:
Candy Maynard, 40, of Inez, was arrested Tuesday for probation violation (for felony offense). Sheriff Kirk made the arrest.
Casey J. Spence, 25, of Inez, was arrested Tuesday for parole violation (for technical violation). Officer Jason Bolyn made the arrest.
Joshua Lee Horn, 39, of Inez, was arrested Monday on Turkey Creek Road, Inez, for endangering the welfare of a minor. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd was called to assist the Department of Social Services on a call about juveniles living outside in a tent/camper. Upon arrival, the deputy found the juveniles living or staying the night in a popup camper with no heat or air, running water, electricity or bathroom. Kidd said the roof was leaking water. The police report noted the conditions placed the juveniles in danger and DSS removed them for alternate placement.
Jamie E. Mullett, 40, of Inez, was arrested Monday on Turkey Creek Road, Inez, for endangering the welfare of a minor. Calvin Fletcher, 64, of Warfield, was arrested Sunday in Warfield for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), no visible injury. Deputy Chris Sesco responded to a call about a domestic. When he arrived at the scene, a female stated Fletcher struck her in the face.
Michael Dalton, 44, of Inez, was arrested Saturday on Calf Creek Road, Inez, on three bench warrants out of Martin, Floyd and Woodford counties. Deputy JC Kirk made the arrest.
Estella Mills-Justice, 47, of Warfield, was arrested Friday on Groundhog Hollow Road, Warfield, for fourth-degree dating violence (no visible injury). Deputy Sesco responded to a call for a domestic in progress. The deputy stated the alleged victim had a bloody nose and red marks on his face that he stated Mills-Justice caused by striking him on the face.
Curtis L. Hinkle, 52, of Warfield, was arrested Friday on Groundhog Hollow Road, Warfield, for fourth-degree dating violence. Deputy Sesco responded to a call about a domestic in progress. The deputy stated the alleged victim told him Hinkle had physically assaulted her. According to the police report, the alleged victim had bruising on her arms and legs.
Bryon Marcum, 59, of Lovely, was arrested Friday on Long Branch Road, Lovely, for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), resisting arrest and menacing. Deputy Sesco responded to a domestic in progress on Long Branch Road. The deputy noted Marcum had an odor of alcoholic beverage about him and was “uncooperative.” According to the police report, a female at the scene advised law enforcement that she had a video of Marcum assaulting another female. At this point, Marcum allegedly locked his arms and would not submit to restraint without force, once pulling away from law enforcement and walking toward a steep hill, putting himself and law enforcement in danger. The deputy said Marcum complained of chest pains and was transported by EMS to a hospital.
Kyle Smith, 32, of Warfield, was arrested Thursday for criminal trespassing. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd responded to a call about Smith trespassing on Dempsey Housing property. The deputy reported that the housing manager confirmed she had banned Smith from the property in person. Kidd’s report stated Smith admitted that he knew he was banned.
Rebecca Bennett, 41, of Inez, was arrested Oct. 25 on Turkey Creek Road in Inez for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) minor injury. Deputy Kidd investigated. According to the deputy, Bennett stated, “I lost it and hit my kid in the face.” Kidd reported that an 11-year-old juvenile said Bennett slapped him in the face. After EMS medically cleared all parties, the Department of Social Services removed three juveniles for alternate placement.
William Patrick, 32, of Inez, was arrested Oct. 25 on Turkey Creek Road in Inez for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Deputy Kidd, while investigating Rebecca Bennett, discovered Patrick with an AR 15 and a 9mm firearm. According to the police report, Patrick stated he asked a juvenile to put the guns in his room when he knew law enforcement was coming. He reportedly said the guns belonged to him and that he knew he should not have them because of a prior felony conviction.
Grace McCoy, of Lovely, was arrested Oct. 25 for third-degree criminal trespassing, second-degree fleeing or evading police (on foot), resisting arrest, menacing and third-degree criminal mischief. Deputy D. Reffett responded to a call about McCoy being on her neighbor’s car, refusing to allow her neighbors to leave and beating on the vehicle. Reffett reported that when he arrived, McCoy was outside the neighbor’s residence, yelling and trying to fight with her neighbors. According to the police report, the deputy gave three verbal commands to McCoy to talk to him. However, McCoy ran, forcing the officer to chase her down. The deputy stated that McCoy resisted arrest. He also said that during transport, she kicked out the doom light inside the police cruiser, continued kicking the cage and windows, and got blood all over the back seat, floor and headliner from a minor cut on her toe.
Christopher D. Marcum, 48, of Inez, was arrested Oct. 25 for operating on a revoked or suspended operator’s license and reckless driving. Sheriff Kirk reported that he observed Marcum operating a vehicle, knowing his license was suspended. Marcum allegedly was traveling at a speed in excess of 70 mph in a 55 mph zone. According to the police report, Marcum crossed the center line after the sheriff activated emergency equipment. “He advised he never saw blue lights activated.”
John L. Kirk Jr., 44, of Inez, was arrested Oct. 24 on Collins Creek Road in Warfield for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Deputy Sesco reported that Kirk was walking on the roadway, had slurred speech, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage, and was unsteady on his feet. Kirk allegedly said he had been drinking all day. According to the police report, Kirk could not perform a field sobriety test and fell on the roadway.
Tammy Stepp, 44, of Louisa, was arrested Oct. 24 in the Martin County Judicial Center for public intoxication of a controlled substance (excludes alcohol). Constable Brad Preece reported that Stepp fell asleep during court and could not pass a sobriety test.
