Renée (Jewell) Slone
1964—2023
Renée Jewell Slone, age 58, of Lovely, passed away suddenly at her home Oct. 28, 2023.
Born Dec. 7, 1964, she was the only daughter of the late William Ray and Elsie Jewell.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Gary Jewell, her sister-in-law, Linda Jewell and her nephew, Philip Jewell.
She is survived by her husband, Ricky Slone; her son, Nicolas (Kassandra) Slone; brothers, Leroy Jewell, Darrell (Christine) Jewell, and David (Liz) Jewell; her grandson, Eli Slone; and granddaughter, Harper Slone. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.
Renée had a compassionate soul that touched the lives of those around her. She lived a life defined by her selflessness and dedication to others.
Renée was a devoted Mimi to her cherished grandchildren, Eli and Harper, whom she loved beyond measure. She treasured her grandchildren and embraced every moment with them.
Her caring nature extended beyond her grandchildren as she selflessly cared for her mother until her passing and showed unwavering dedication to her husband, who had suffered a traumatic brain injury. Renée went above and beyond to ensure their well-being, a testament to her love and commitment to family.
Renée had a rare gift of making every moment special for those she encountered. When she chose a gift for you, not just any gift was good enough. She would search tirelessly until the perfect one was chosen. She also loved taking pictures, and if you were in her presence for very long, you would witness that firsthand. Her kindness, generosity and boundless love enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Union United Baptist Church with Terry Harmon and Jamie Richardson officiating. Burial will follow at the Jewell Cemetery on Little Peter Cave.
Friends may visit the church Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
