Pediatric pain specialist joins UK King’s Daughters

ASHLAND — UK King’s Daughters welcomed pediatric pain management specialist Motaz Awad, M.D., to its medical staff.

Dr. Awad specializes in treating migraines, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, muscle pain, groin pain, sports injuries, and growth plate pain in children. He also sees patients receiving orthopedic care through Shriner’s Children’s Lexington.

Dr. Awad received his medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College Qatar in Doha, Qatar, and completed his anesthesiology residency at New York Medical College at Westchester Medical Center in Westchester, New York. He completed fellowships in pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric pain management at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the American Board of Pediatric Anesthesiology.

Dr. Awad is an assistant professor of Anesthesiology at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, an attending anesthesiologist at UK’s Albert B. Chandler Hospital, and director of the Pediatric Pain Center at UK’s Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington.
