Bobby Williamson Obituary

Bobby Williamson
1939—2023

Bobby Williamson, 84, passed away Oct. 19, 2023, while enjoying a motorcycle ride on Jennies Creek Road.

Born April 1, 1939, on Old Fork of Jennies Creek, he was the son of the late Garland Williamson and Sarah Dillon Williamson Meade.

In 1963, he wed Dolores Kay Stepp, who preceded him in death.

As he was affectionately known to many, Brother Bobby was a member of the Silver Creek United Baptist Church since 1975. It was there where he found the dearest friend he ever had. Brother Bobby served Silver Creek faithfully in a variety of roles: member, deacon, assistant clerk, minister and assistant pastor under Rev. Otis Dillon. Brother Bob also served Philadelphia United Baptist Church in Maher for several years in the early 1990s.

In 1979, Brother Bobby was called to preach the Gospel and personally stated, “The greatest job I’ve had is being a preacher.” He mentored many in his life on how to faithfully serve the Lord. From bible study to church camp at Cabwaylingo State Forest, Big Bob was a rockstar and guiding light to adults and the youth. And to add, he was King of the Belly Flop.

Bobby was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, where he served on the USS Hornet.

Big Bob was extremely proud of his work as a coal miner, most notably at Marrowbone Development as fire boss. However, Pops was most proud of his children and being a father and grandfather. He was very active in coaching youth sports and Partners in Education (PIE) to better the community of Crum.

Survivors include his two daughters, Pamela Jo (Rick) Meddings of Crum and Lorena Sue (Gabriel) Smith of Ft. Gay; one son, Bobby James Williamson of Crum; sisters, Dolly Marcum, Georgie Meade and Mary (George) Pendleton, all of Vinton, Ohio; brothers, Roger Meade, Flem (Donna) Meade and Same Meade all of Vinton, Ohio; grandchildren, Brandon Meddings, Lillian Kay (Tristan) McCommas, and Tristan “TDub” Smith; and a host of friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, Bobby is preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law, Sonya Lynn and Otis Lynn Dillon; stepfather, Robert Meade; sister, Nancy Williamson Watson; and brothers, Billy Williamson and Roy Meade Sr.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2023, at the Silver Creek United Baptist Church, Crum, with Pastor Bobby Perry officiating. Private burial will take place at a later date.

Friends may visit the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service Sunday.

Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
