INEZ — Christmas in the Mountains “Community Decorating Day” is Sunday, Nov. 5. It is the day for folks to come to Inez and help light up the town with Christmas lights to prepare for the annual Christmas in the Mountains.
“It truly takes a village,” remarked Christmas in the Mountains event organizer Linda Webb. “There’s so much time and effort that goes into stringing the thousands of lights in the town that transform Inez into a winter wonderland, and we need all the assistance we can get to make it possible. Having extra hands really made a difference.”
This year, the committee plans to extend the Christmas lights to include more of the town. “We will be so grateful for any and all help.”
The decorating crew will meet behind the Martin County Government Center at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 5, where they will divide into groups and begin working on stringing lights and setting up displays until around 4:30 p.m.
“We welcome help from anyone, and we would love to see churches bring their youth groups to join in,” said Webb. “We always have such a great time fellowshipping as we decorate. It allows us an opportunity to spend time with family and friends while making memories and new acquaintances.”
For more information, message the committee on their Facebook page, “Christmas in the Mountains.”
“You don’t have to sign up to volunteer to assist us,” said Webb. “Just wear comfortable clothing and dress warmly if the temperature is chilly. Bring your family and friends and show up at 2:30; we will put you to work. We can never have too much help.”
