INEZ — The Martin County High School girls volleyball team experienced mixed results in their home matches last week. They secured a 3-1 win over Tug Valley Thursday, following a 3-0 defeat to Pike Central Sept. 26.

Coming from a previous 2-0 loss to Tug Valley earlier in the season, Martin County showed resilience, winning the match 3-1.
The Lady Cards emerged victorious in four sets: they bagged the first two sets with scores of 25-23 and 25-18, faced a setback in the third set 25-19, but bounced back to win the fourth at 25-23.

This marked the fourth win of the season for the Lady Cards. Coach Krista Newsome expressed her enthusiasm.
“I am excited about the progress the girls are showing,” Newsome said. “The foundation is being laid for a bright future in our volleyball program. I’m extremely proud of the girls for this win.”

Against Pike Central, the Lady Cards faced significant adversity. Despite their relentless efforts, they suffered a 3-0 loss.
The match was intense: the Lady Cards lost the initial set 25-19, faced a close defeat in the second set at 25-21, and in a gripping third set where the lead constantly shifted, Pike Central eventually triumphed with a score of 25-23.
