LIHEAP pre-registration opens Oct. 23

INEZ — The Big Sandy Area Community Action Program announced the opening of the pre-registration period for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) subsidy program. Eligible individuals are those on a fixed income, aged 60 and above, or living with a disability.

Pre-registration begins Oct. 23 and will run until Nov. 24.

Residents interested in accessing the subsidy should prepare and bring several essential documents when they apply. This includes:

– Social Security cards for all members of the household

– Previous months’ income for all members of the household

– Current utility bill to serve as proof of address

– Proof of account number for bulk fuel, if applicable

To qualify, applicants must provide evidence of their fixed income and age or disability.

Those interested in this assistance must visit their local Big Sandy Area Community Action Program office to submit their applications.

The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services provides the funding for the program through a block grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
