INEZ — Thanks to a generous donation of $6,000 from the Martin County Farm Bureau, the popular ice-skating rink will again grace the Christmas in the Mountains festival this year.

Linda Lou Webb, a Christmas in the Mountains committee member, announced the news during a recent Martin County Tourism Board meeting.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Kentucky Farm Bureau,” Webb said. “They said they saw how much fun the kids were having.”

The festive event will run from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2 in downtown Inez, transforming the town into a wonderland of lights and delights. Visitors can look forward to a range of attractions. Beyond the ice-skating rink, the festival boasts six carnival rides: three kiddie rides, the Scrambler, the Paratrooper and an upgraded 100-foot slide.

That is not all.

Attendees can also enjoy musical acts, a variety of vendors, a petting zoo, a car show/cruise-in, inflatables, rock climbing, an obstacle challenge and rides on trains, trolleys and carriages. Various events will be scheduled throughout the week.

The organizing committee encourages residents and businesses to get into the festive spirit by adorning their storefronts, windows and doors and being set to illuminate them by the Nov. 10 reveal.

Vendor spots for the festival are currently open for booking. A spot Dec. 2 comes at a fee of $25. For just an extra $10, vendors can also establish their setup on the afternoon of Dec. 1. These spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Those interested should reserve their spots by contacting Inez City Clerk Lisa Mollett at 606-298-4602.
