Elaine Newsome
1955—2023

Elaine Newsome, 68, of Kermit, passed away Monday, Sept. 26, 2023, at home.

Born Jan. 4, 1955, in Williamson, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Garland and Lucy Rose Newsome.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings, Eula Grace, Ella Grace, Danny Newsome, Eugene Newsome and Claude Dillon.

Elaine was a convenience store clerk and a graduate of Kermit High School.

Survivors include her daughter, Melissa (James) Bowen of Charleston; two grandchildren, Nicholas and Emily; a brother, Garland (Imogene) Newsome Jr. of Naugatuck; a sister, Betty (late Phillip) Hunt of Naugatuck; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.

By Elaine’s request there will be no services at this time. A celebration of life ceremony will be held at a later date at the Newsome Ridge Cemetery. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
