Martin County Middle School Lady Cards added two road wins last week over Mullins 35-17 and South Floyd 39-15.
Coach Boo Newsome’s Lady Cards improved to 16-2 on the season.

Lady Cards cage Tigers
The Lady Cards caged the Mullins Lady Tigers 35-17 in a game Sept. 12 at Mullins.
Both teams struggled offensively in the first quarter. As the game quickly turned into a defensive battle, Martin County’s effort allowed the Lady Cards to stay in control. They gave up two points in the first quarter and secured a 6-2 lead.
Maci Maynard contributed seven of her game-high 14 points in the second quarter to help the Lady Cards to a 17-9 lead.
The Lady Cards’ defense held the Tigers to a single-digit third quarter, giving up four points. Martin County had a 24-13 lead at the end of three.
Mullins’ offensive struggles continued in the fourth quarter, leading to only four points. Meanwhile the Lady Cards scored 11 in the final frame to put the game away.
Maynard led Martin County with 14 points. Annaleigh Davis followed with 11, Desirae Gullett and Caylee Moore added four apiece, and Lexie Cline chipped in two.
Shania Lurton led Mullins with nine points, Baylee Gravely scored four, Kim Akers added three, and Han finished with one.
MC dominates SF
Martin County dominated South Floyd 39-15 Thursday at South Floyd.
The Lady Cards took a 12-2 lead in the first quarter and never looked back. Maci Maynard and Annaleigh Davis paced the Lady Cards with six points each in the first.
Both teams played even in the second quarter, each putting up 11 points.
South Floyd went ice cold in the third quarter, going scoreless, while the Lady Cards put the game out of reach.
Davis led Martin County with 15 points, Maci Maynard followed with 14, and Desirae Gillett and Lexie Cline each chipped in five.
