INEZ — The first Martin County Solar Project job fair is Thursday (Sept. 7) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Collier Center in Inez, where some applicants will be hired on the spot.
Local solar developer Adam Edelen of Edelen Renewables announced the job fair recently while visiting Inez. The developer emphasized that Martin County residents would receive first consideration for the jobs.
“We’re beyond excited to see this day finally arrive,” Edelen said Tuesday.
Construction of the 200 megawatt solar project on the former Martiki mine site in Pilgrim will begin at the end of September or early October. Edelen noted that to have employees in place and ready, the hiring process needs to begin.
“It’s our job to create the possibility for better jobs and lives,” said Edelen. “It’s your job to seize the opportunity.”
Edelen encourages anyone interested to begin the application process online to save time and to have their resume reviewed before the job fair.
If registering online is not an option or an applicant does not possess a resume, it is not a problem. They can attend the job fair in person, where a member of the hiring team will assist them throughout the process.
Edelen said this would be the first of two job fairs in the county. The hiring of employees will conclude after the second job fair in late October or early November. (Stay tuned for upcoming details.)

Edelen said his company is proud to invest in the future of Martin County. He urges all Martin County residents who are looking for work to apply. “We are an equal opportunity employer and hire both males and females.”
Positions available are for laborers, operators, electricians and installers.
“Whether you have experience in these fields or are looking for a career change, apply for a position. Come by the job fair and talk to a member of our hiring team, who will be happy to walk you through the process and answer any questions you may have,” added Edelen.
The Collier Center is located at 387 E. Main Street.
