INEZ — Martin County Sheriff John Kirk’s office reported the following arrests:
Jeremy James Jarvis, 35, of Inez, and Dennis Allen Maynard, 38, of Lovely, were arrested Tuesday on N. Wolf Creek Road in Lovely and charged with third-degree burglary. The two allegedly drove inside a garage belonging to Kaitlyn Ward while she was not at home to hide their vehicle from view. When deputies arrived, the they were inside the garage with the doors closed. Both stated a third male had been present, but officers did not locate him. Police found a propane tank and a set of manifold gauges in the back seat of the vehicle.
For Maynard it was his second arrest in less than a week. He was also arrested Aug. 30 on Thickety Fork in Inez for driving on a DUI-suspended license. The sheriff stopped him for operating an ATV on the highway.
Fred Daniels, 52, of Tomahawk, was arrested Tuesday for first-degree trafficking in controlled substance (greater than 2 grams methamphetamine), trafficking in marijuana (less than 8 ounces), and drug paraphernalia-buy/possession. Deputy M. Scott responded to a call about a maroon-colored GMC Blazer blocking the roadway. When the officer arrived at Tomahawk Estates Road, he found the Blazer parked in front of a residence with its rear passenger tire and quarter panel in the roadway. According to the police report, the deputy approached the unoccupied vehicle and located a glass smoking device. He knocked on the door of the residence, and Daniels exited.
“As we approached the vehicle, I asked the subject who the pipe belonged to, and he stated he was unsure,” the deputy stated.
A search of the vehicle yielded 19 grams of a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and 8 grams of a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana.
Darrell Damron, 60, of Tomahawk, was arrested Monday for non-payment of court costs, fees or fines and failure to appear. KSP Trooper Hale made the arrest.
Casey Webb, 36, of Inez, was arrested Monday on Hode Road in Inez for alcohol intoxication in a public place. Deputy J.C. Kirk made the arrest.
Mary Lou Setser, 52, of Inez, was arrested Monday on Gordon Maynard Road on a bench warrant. Chief Deputy Chris Kidd made the arrest.
Marion Marcum, 51, of Inez, was arrested Friday on Bowen Lane in Inez for third-degree possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified). Kidd reported that Marcum was a passenger in a vehicle pulled over for a traffic violation. After noticing seven knives inside the vehicle, the officer asked Marcum to submit to a patdown, which Martin agreed to. The police report states Marcum produced a round cylinder from his pocket containing 16 pink pills with the imprint “029” on one side and “R” on the other. Subjected allegedly stated, “They are Xanax.”
Paul Ruben Morrison, 47, of Debord, was arrested Monday on Blackberry Road in Debord for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). Sheriff Kirk made the arrest.
Alisha Jude, 29, of Inez, was arrested Thursday on Sansome Drive in Inez for endangering the welfare of a minor. Deputy Kidd responded to a call saying children were living in unsuitable conditions. When he arrived, he immediately noticed one child standing in what appeared to be dog feces on the kitchen floor. Upon further inspection, he found several rooms had no finished flooring with exposed sharp objects. Two working electrical outlets were uncovered in the back bedroom where the kids slept, with the wiring exposed and accessible to the kids. There were several bottles of prescription medication and packets of open suboxone strips lying on the floor and in various other places throughout the home and outside. DSS removed the children.
Angel Mollett, 21, of Inez, was arrested Thursday at 99 Lees Way in Lovely for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree disorderly conduct. Kidd made the arrest. Sheriff Kirk reported that Mollett held a baggie containing crystal methamphetamine in her left hand while holding her infant daughter, and the drug came into direct contact with the child.
Jordan A. Delong, 20, of Lovely, was arrested Thursday in Lovely for first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), endangering the welfare of a minor, resisting arrest, and a bench warrant for court. Deputy Kidd reported that after being arrested on a bench warrant, Delong passed a bag containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine to his girlfriend. The girlfriend had a small toddler in her arms at the time, and the bag containing the drug came into direct contact with the child’s leg. The deputy contacted DSS about the protective custody of two juveniles at the location.
Eric Holland, 28, of Inez, was arrested Thursday at the United States Penitentiary Big Sandy in Debord on a fugitive from another state warrant. Kidd made the arrest.
Lawrence Tyler McCoy, 29, of Louisa, was arrested Thursday on Ratlifftown Road in Inez for fourth-degree assault (domestic violence). Sheriff Kirk made the arrest.
William Messer, 34, of Warfield, was arrested Aug. 30 at Dempsey Housing in Warfield for endangering the welfare of a minor, possession of a controlled substance (drug unspecified) and a bench warrant for court. Deputy Kidd was called to the apartment to assist the Department of Social Services with a welfare check on a minor. During the walk-through, the officer noticed a plate containing a crushed pinkish residue. According to the police report, Messer stated that is how he takes his suboxone. Messer allegedly produced another plate in the living room containing crushed-up pink powder that Messer stated was suboxone.
“The house had feces on the floor in the bedroom where the kids slept,” the deputy noted. “The suboxone was in direct access and reach of the juveniles.”
DSS removed the children for alternate placement.
Amanda Jude, 34, of Warfield, was arrested Aug. 30 at Dempsey Housing in Warfield for endangering the welfare of a minor. Deputy Kidd was called to Apartment 12E to assist DSS with a welfare check of a minor. Upon arrival, the officers observed feces on the bedroom floors where the kids slept. The second-floor window was open in the male juvenile’s room. The police report states that Jude was aware that the boyfriend living in her home left drug residue in direct access of the children. DSS removed the children for alternate placement.
Nebert Porter, 50, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 29 on Rockcastle Road in Inez for possession of marijuana and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of controlled substance. Kidd made the arrest.
Crystal Hazlett, 42, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 30 on Blacklog Road in Inez for complicity to fourth-degree assault (child abuse). According to the police report, while working as the director of the Serenity House in Inez, Hazlett allegedly instructed a parent about stopping her 20-month-old child from biting. The police report states that Hazlett admitted telling the parent to “bite it back” to show the child how bad biting hurts.
Brittany Ashcraft, 31, of Inez, was arrested Aug. 30 on Blacklog Road in Inez for fourth-degree assault (child abuse). The police report states that while staying at the Serenity House, Ashcraft caused physical injury to her 20-month-old daughter by biting her, leaving visible marks when her daughter would bite. According to the police report, Ashcraft said Serenity House director Crystal Hazlett instructed her to bite the child. DSS removed the child for alternate placement.
