Theodore Floyd
1924—2023

Theodore Floyd, 99-1/2 years old, of Delbarton, West Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 30, 2023, while surrounded by his wife and loving family at his home.

Born Feb. 8, 1924, in Lenore, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Henry and Carrie Sturgill Floyd. His daughter, Judy Floyd Kozee and numerous siblings preceed him in death.

Theodore was a coal miner, a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of the Little Dove United Baptist Church.

Survivors include Theodore’s wife of 15 years, Birdie Carroll Floyd; sons Theodore “Ted” (Sally) Floyd of Delbarton, Larry (Crystal) Floyd of Florida, and Wilford (Mary) Carroll of Front Road, Virginia; daughters Joan (the Late Archie) Prince of Prichard and Mary Lynn (Mark) Shisler of Newark, Ohio; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. He also leaves behind his sister, Janice Canterbury of Cleveland, and a host of extended family and friends.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023, at the Little Dove United Baptist Church. The funeral services will be at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Maynard and Chris Ooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Sturgill-McGuire Cemetery in Lenore.

Pallbearers: TJ Floyd, Timmy Floyd, Brayden Floyd, Blake Floyd, Ted Floyd III, Josh Keathley. Honorable pallbearers: Mark Shisler, Bill Osborne, Wilford Carroll, Donald Floyd, Jeff Floyd, Harold Canterbury, Jamey Keathley and Brett Keathley.
