William Leroy Mills Sr.
1941—2023
Our precious Daddy, William Leroy Mills Sr., 82, was called home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2023.
He was born July 23, 1941, to the late William Douglas and Alka Mae (Fletcher) Mills. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Pricie Belle (Fitch) Mills; five brothers, Arnold Burgess Mills, Pearlie Dee Mills, Billy Joe Mills, Matthew Mills and Mark Mills; and three sisters, Thelma Marie Mills, Maxzine Elizabeth Sasoworth and Delphia Jean Easter. He is also preceded in death by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his six children, William Leroy Jr. (Phyllis) Mills of Inez, Kathie Ann (Mike) Pack of Lodi, Ohio, Oma Sue Lowe of Chapmanville, West Virginia, Pricie Lynn (James) Kazee of Beauty, Arnold Douglas (Linda) Mills of Inez, and Sharon Kay (Ray Jr.) Staton of Pilgrim; and a very special niece, Julie Renae Fitch of Grove City, Ohio, whom he loved as a daughter. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eddy Dean Mills and Ralph Douglas Mills, both of Inez; and five sisters, Stella Hammond of Inez, Ella Josephine James of Elkhorn City, and Betty Rush, Nancy Elkins and Pricie Waltz, all of Ohio.
Daddy was a former carpenter and a retired coal miner from Wolf Creek Collieries Coal Mines. He worked hard to provide for his family. He loved hunting, fishing and horseback riding. He had a love of music and the gift of playing any instrument he picked up. He and Momma would often play music and sing. He truly loved his family. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Daddy will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 28, 2023, at noon at the Big Elk Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Mills Fitch Family Cemetery. Friends may visit the church Saturday and Sunday evenings at 6 p.m. Church services will begin at 7 p.m. each night. Arrangements are under the direction of Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
