Phillip Curtis Smith
1950—2023

Phillip Curtis Smith, age 72, of Inez, passed away Aug. 11, 2023, at Highlands ARH.

He was born Sept. 5, 1950, in Logan, West Virginia, to Shirley Staton Smith of Ashland and the late Phillip Smith.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Linda Sue Smith, one son, John David Smith of Versailles, one daughter, Kimberly Dawn Smith of Winchester, and one sister, Connie Adkins of Ashland. He is also survived by one grandchild, Courtney Nicole Smith of Columbus, Ohio, one great-grandchild, Bentley James Smith of Inez, and his special four-legged daughter, Izzy.

Phillip was a coal miner and retired from Wolf Creek Collieries. He thought fondly of his Wolf Creek Collieries family. He was also an avid fisherman and served his country during the Vietnam War as a medic for the United States Army. He loved his children and grandchildren dearly.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, Aug. 14, 2023 in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home. Burial was at the cemetery on Camp Branch. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
