Martin County scrimmages Lawrence County, Russell

LOUISA — Martin County participated in their first scrimmage with pads Saturday at Lawrence County, facing off against Lawrence County and Russell.

Each team took turns running plays against the others, allowing them to fine-tune their offense and defense.

No scores were kept for this event.

Senior running back Brock Messer carried the ball three times, racking up 98 rushing yards and one touchdown. He also had two tackles on defense before leaving the scrimmage due to heat exhaustion.

Senior Madden Miller played on both sides of the ball. Miller carried the ball seven times, racking up 80 rushing yards, including one touchdown. On the defensive side the senior racked up an astounding 10 tackles, including one for a loss.

Senior wide receiver Dray Duff made a reception, covering 72 yards and securing a touchdown.

Senior Bryston Wells contributed three defensive tackles, including one for a loss.

Sophomore Devan Maynard made a reception for 14 yards and contributed two tackles on the defensive side of the ball.

Sophomore quarterback Jackson Miller completed 3 of 9 passes for 86 yards. He recorded one touchdown pass and had three carries for 9 rushing yards.
