Verna Belle Blair Thompson
1950—2023
Our precious mother, Verna Belle Blair Thompson, was called home July 30, 2023, to be with her Heavenly Father. Verna was born Jan. 16, 1950, in Wayne County, West Virginia, to Irvin and Hazel Branham.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, wife, mentor, and friend. Verna’s love and strong faith in God was evident to all who knew her.
Verna was a teacher in Mingo County for more than 40 years, where she contributed to shaping the young minds of so many children. She touched many lives and will be missed by so many.
She leaves behind five children: Stephanie John, Hank (Paula) Blair, Nichole Blair, Margaret (Richard) Lawing, and Misty (Dave) Bevins. In addition, she is survived by her grandchildren: Kasidy Duncan, Sarah Bevins, Chance John, Breanna Henson, and Journey Blair. She also leaves behind two great-grandchildren: Isabella Duncan and Blaire John.
Verna was preceded in death by her late husband, Everett Blair.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, at Warfield Church of God, with Brother Robbie May officiating. The interment was at the Blair Cemetery in Parsley Bottom. Mullins Family Funeral Home is honored to serve the family.
