Martin County Water District issues boil water advisory

CITIZEN STAFF REPORT

INEZ — The Martin County Water District issued a boil water advisory Tuesday following a leak in a 6-inch main water line near Routes 40 and 645 intersection at the west end of Inez.

The advisory affects Saltwell Road, Eden West along KY-645, also beginning at the intersection of KY-40 and KY-645 and continuing to Tomahawk, Rockhouse Road, Milo Road, and Old Route 3 from the Little Country Market to the Buffalo Horn booster pump station.

The advisory states that following a water line leak, the potential exists for bacteriological contamination of the water supply. “Until further notice, boil all water used for drinking and cooking, bringing the water to a rolling boil for three minutes before using.”

The advisory will remain in effect until test results show the water to be of an acceptable quality. The advisory affects approximately 875 customers.
