Samuel Lee Dials
1954—2023

Samuel Lee Dials, 69, of Inez, went home to be with the Lord on July 20, 2023. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.

Sam was born March 2, 1954, in Paintsville, to the late Elder Willis and Janie (Moore) Dials. He was the youngest son of 13 children.

He was baptized Feb. 12, 2012, and became a deacon at Big Elk United Baptist Church. He loved his church family and they’ve been a blessing to the family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Clay Dials, and five sisters, Thelma Parsons, Betty Jo Moore, Helen Dawn Blankenship, Mary Ellen Curry and Glenna Davis.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Avonell Parsons Dials; children, Salena (David) Nichols and Dustin (Amanda) Dials, both of Inez; and grandchildren, Abby (Mason) Gordon and Hunter and Hope Dials. He also leaves behind two brothers, William (Billy) Dials of Lovely and Timmy (Barbara) Dials of Kermit, West Virginia, and four sisters, Ina Ruth (Donald) Hall of Prestonsburg, Doris (Bill) Evans of Naugatuck, West Virginia, Beatrice “Pie” Dials of Crum, West Virginia, and Deborah (Gene Brewer) Dials of MaCombs, Michigan. A host of nieces and nephews also survive him.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 23, 2023, in the chapel of Crum Funeral Home with Brent Haney and George Jude officiating. Sam was laid to rest at the Dials Cemetery on Jack Cassady Branch, Coldwater Road, Inez. Arrangements are under the direction of the Crum Funeral Home of Inez.
