Major drug bust in Prestonsburg follows yearlong investigation

PRESTONSBURG — A yearlong probe into illicit drug trafficking culminated in a major bust Wednesday evening in Floyd County.

The investigation led Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies to a property on Conley Fork of Spurlock in Prestonsburg, where they discovered a sizable cache of illegal drugs, firearms and cash.

Deputies seized an array of illicit substances, including fentanyl, heroin, crystal meth, marijuana, LSD and various prescription pills. They also confiscated equipment related to drug trafficking, including digital scales, plastic baggies and other drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, authorities found a large cache of firearms, some identified as stolen, and a substantial amount of cash.

Floyd County Sheriff John Hunt said, “The illegal drug trafficking has been plaguing that community for far too long.”

Police arrested 39-year-old Josh Baisden and 56-year-old David Craft, both of Prestonsburg.

The two were lodged in the Floyd County Jail and charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, first (heroin), trafficking in a controlled substance, first (crystal meth), trafficking in a legend drug, first, trafficking in a controlled substance, first (fentanyl), possession of a defaced firearm, receiving stolen property, possession of a scheduled drug, first (LSD), and other drug-related charges.
